Event Description

Conference Overview:

The Sloan Consortium, MERLOT, and our Emerging Technologies steering committee welcome you to The 6th Annual Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium (ET4Online), hosted for the second consecutive year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference dates for the symposium are changing, in part, to allow K-12 participants and vendors a better opportunity to join the conference live. No longer a summer conference, ET4Online is moving to spring 2013 and will stay a spring conference for the foreseeable future.

The ET4Online Symposium offers you an opportunity to study best practices, understand applications, discover new technologies, and connect to others who share a love for and belief in the promise of educational technology.

Again this year, we are excited to offer workshops as part of the conference package. Workshops as part of the conference program were so well received in 2012 we are offering the value again.

About the Conference:

The Emerging Technologies for Online Learning Symposium (ET4Online) is a conference devoted to the emerging and innovative uses of technology designed to improve teaching and learning online. The conference focuses on the technologies that drive online learning effectiveness, highlighting research, applications and best practices of important emerging technological tools. We encourage submissions related to instruction, networking, assessment, open educational resources, new media and support services.

Who Should Attend:

This conference, which will provide the latest information on emerging technology applications for online learning, is geared both to experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning who hail from a variety of work sectors, including higher education, continuing education, business, government, health care, professional associations, and nonprofit organizations.

Call for Proposals:

The Sloan Consortium and MERLOT invite you to submit a proposal for the 6th Annual Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium, to be held April 9-11, 2013 at The Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, NV.   The Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium, a joint Symposium of Sloan Consortium and MERLOT, is designed to bring together individuals interested in the review and evaluation of online teaching and learning technologies. Faculty, students, instructional designers, instructional technologists and academic administrators are encouraged to submit proposals which are engaging, informative and interactive. These sessions can be targeted to all attendees or beginners, intermediates, or experts. The symposium, focusing on the technologies, networking and systems that drive online learning effectiveness, will accept presentations that offer attendees “real solutions.”  Symposium tracks highlight and demonstrate research, application and effective practices and noteworthy technological tools in the following areas:

  • Learning Spaces and Communities
  • Open and Accessible Learning
  • Evidence-based Learning
  • Faculty and Student Development
  • Innovative Media and Tools

Proposals for presentations must be submitted by December 10, 2012 at  http://sloanconsortium.org/et4online/call_for_presentations

Why Students Plagiarize?

It's horrible. We should teach our young generation not to be thieves and avoid plagiarism.             But theft it's not the biggest problem. As educator and psychologist I did a range of anonymous tests and I found that the most common reason of plagiarizing is fear.Yes, fear.Fear of being incorrect.Fear of being not accepted in college or university.Fear to show their own feelings and personal…See More
