Conference Keynote Speakers are:
William H. Schubert, from the University of Illinois – Chicago. His research focuses on curriculum
theory, and he holds prestigious positions serving as vice-president of AERA,and president of the
John Dewey Society, among many.

Carolyn Pope Edwards, from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, is a Willa Cather Professor with
a split teaching and research appointment between the Psychology Department and the Department of
Child, Youth, and Family Studies. She has been studying and writing about the early childhood programs
of northern and central Italy and their application to American contexts. She has also done research in Kenya,
Norway, China on early childcare, parental expectations, and children's social relationships.

Title: The Teaching for Artistic Behavior

Audience: Elementary Ed, Early Childhood and special Ed.

The Teaching for Artistic Behavior Group is an international grassroots organization that supports art teachers who practice choice based art education. This presentation will examine the learning dynamics, environmental setting and pedagogy related to constructivist learning theory that make choice based art education one of the most potent forms of art education currently practiced by a growing number of art educators across the U.S. and World. Video, digital photography, student created electronic portfolios, interviews, and reflective writing will provide evidence of the compelling art education experiences generated within the choice based art education approach.
