It is good netiquette to agree to disagree with others when your opinion is different than theirs. Argument and debate are not always appropriate for online engagement.

As individual begin to develop relationships and brand themselves in networking sites, it is important to pay attention to details. Listening, respecting others and being familiar with cultural and business norms are imperative for success. Respect can be an acknowledgment, value added statement or constructive criticism. It can also involve returning a message in a timely manner. 
 

Great reply to my discussion post. Showing respect to online associates is a great way to brand yourself. It is a great way to interact with others online. Agreeing to disagree is definitely showing respect for your online associates. 

Thank you for such a great comment. There is a lot of insight into the difference between a discussion and an argument. It has left me with something to think about. Maybe a new strategy to formulate for dealing with troll activity. Possibly a new lesson in netiquette. I may incorporate the concept resentment into the core rules of netiquette. Using a non-offensive term is a lot better than saying people who flame are beneath you.

Online engagement is focused toward making a brand value and every freshman lens should be respected to have an opinion of themselves on a particular issue. A Discussion turns into an argument only when we try to bombard our opinion on others and resent in dis-agreement for there opinions.
