Assistive/Adaptive technologies such as Dragon Natural Speaking and Kurzweil 3000

The use of assisted technologies, like Dragon Naturally Speaking and Kurzweil 3000, have broken down barriers for students with disabilities in reading and writing when working with technology or engaging on the internet. I recently have set these programs up in my classroom and am in the process of training myself and students in their uses, any suggestions. How have you used these programs within your classroom to allow students (with reading and writing needs)  better engage with the materials presented?
