The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

I'm trying to put together a list--not of what the best practices are but which best practices are actually utilized in the classroom. What do you find works for you? Thanks for any input!

Hi Teri,

Could you be more specific as to the type of best practices you're looking for? Thanks.

I don't want to be too broad or too narrow but basically, what are the most effective strategies utilized? These could be in the areas of classroom management, differentiation, and other areas of instruction.

Here are the responses I've received from my Twitter pals so far:

Turn & talk, random calling to hold all stdts accountable (@ChurchillSDT)

My favorite best practice: Model what you expect. This goes as much for those who deliver PD as it does for the classroom! (@math2go)

best practices- cooperative learning, creating deeper questions to fac discussion, authentic performance based assessment (@djainslie)

I'm designing "invitations" 2 engage my stdnts. Idea taken from What if & Why? by Katie VanSluys (@SpeakSpanglish)

Open-ended questions and Wait Time for discussions (@TeachJohnson)

Compare something you know with something new u are learning. Ex in emp strategies - how is an interview like a first date? Sue Davis (@NBCCSue)

Looking for educators who teach in inclusive classrooms.

My name is Robin Wilkins and I am a student researcher. I am conducting a study in which I would like to share the perceptions of teachers who teach in inclusive settings (non-disabled and disabled students) regarding engaging students and professional development needs to engage students.Robin_Wilkins_RecruitmentFlyer032822.docxSee More
