The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

Hi,

I'm working with a 7th/8th grade language arts teacher. She's interested in creating videos to help some students with different learning styles and needs. She isn't exactly 'flipping her classroom', but some elements are there.

She's especially looking for simple tools to use to create videocasts. She's tried Jing and isn't enamored with it.

Does anyone have other suggestions for tools? Also, she'd like to connect with other teachers doing things like this. Is the Educator's PLN the best choice for connecting on this topic?

thanks so much for your thoughts,

Bonnie

Is she on a Mac? What's her budget? Is she filming herself or her screen?

She's on a PC, with Windows 7. She would like to mostly capture her screen, but it would be okay if occasionally she put herself in front of the camera. There's not much of a budget for this...

Camtasia worked well when I used my PC. It links into power point or just recording screen shots.  I think the license for one computer is reasonable.  If she has access to an IPAD, there are plenty of apps for this.

SplashTop might have a record function.  We use it to remotely control laptops from an iPad.
