Guys, I have been asked by many school teachers about the endless discussion about institutional listening and video x authentic, which one is better for EFL students?
We all know that no publishers, provide material with so called authentic listening or video, they are all retouched, re-recorded, edited and so forth.
How beneficial is authentic material in language teaching nowadays?
Students are more and more in contact with 'authentic' language on the internet, cable, songs and etc, so how relevant this authentic stuff is in language teaching? Does that make a significant difference in language acquisition? Does it actually provide better understanding and fluency?
What do you guys think?
