The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

I am trying something new this semester with my graduate students in the course, Introduction to Education Technology. In the past, I have introduced them to Skype and even set up some educators to Skype into our classroom. But this semester, I would like to make this more of an active experience for each of my students by connecting each of them with an educator on Skype so that they can experience a virtual, synchronous conversation with this technology. They have no PLN established and have no way to find their own connections, so I have set up a Google spreadsheet with some information and a place for educators to volunteer to connect with one of my students. If this is something that is of interest to you, you can read more about it and add your own information by visiting the spreadsheet here.

Also, feel free to pass this information along in whatever channels that you use.

Thanks so much!

UPDATE: This project is now underway. However, I will most likely repeat it in the fall semester, so if you would like to help out, you can still add to the list. Just be aware that you won't hear from any students until the fall semester of 2010. Thanks!

I would love to skype with your grad students. I am a technology facilitator for elementary schools (K-5) and also work as an adjunct professor at Texas A&M Commerce teaching technology integration. My Skype name is ajasna and my twitter name is Jasna_A.

Thanks so much for filling out the form and your willingness to help. My students will do the contacting of interviewees themselves.

I am the Secondary Principal at Van Meter Schools in Van Meter, IA. I would love to do what I can to help. Here is my blog want to check it out first. This should be a great project.

Thank you, Deron! I'm not having success with your blog URL, though. Is it correct?
I am a 6th grade teacher in Iowa. We are a very technology driven school that just went to a 1 : 1 program with our secondary school. I'd love to use Skype with your students.

Thanks so much, Janelle. Please go ahead and add yourself to the spreadsheet.
Hi Stephen,

I teach an undergraduate Technology to Enhance Education class. I haven't done Skype as a class, but would love to try if our class times are compatible. My class meets on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:20 Central Standard Time and my students are Middle and Secondary and all content areas. Otherwise, if you think it would be beneficial, I would make a connection to one of your students.
Thanks, Mary. My students will be selecting from the list and contacting folks directly, so stand by!

I would love to skype with your grad students. My interests are in new literacies, online reading comprehension, and dispositions of learning.
Thanks, Greg. Feel free to add your information to the spreadsheet!
My apologies. I didn't see the link.
No worries... the color scheme makes it easy to miss.
