These days kids are getting heavier, obese and unhealthier than ever. Modern diet consisting of fat-laden, sugar loaded junk food and drinks are a major cause of the problem. The lack of exercise is the other reason why so many kids today are so obese. Develop an interest in your kids to play outdoor games more often.

That is great advise. I'm a school nurse and just completed by screenings at a small alternative school. To date, 25 percent of my students are obese. Just prepared a grant to remove the sugary drink from our school and install new options in our water fountains to promote water as the first choice for hydration. Wish me luck --- hopefully I can drop that obesity rate by new year.

Thank you for sharing this information. I would definitely have to agree that it is very generous/open-handed and thoughtful of to use his popularity/demand and knowledge to help control this epidemic/extensive. Get ideas for lessons and activities/occupation that gets kids outside & moving, as well some related to food. I think his program is a wonderful piece of the puzzle for helping kids make better health and eating choices. I think more ground would be gained in this struggle if more programs concentrated on educating parents.

I finally understand what Parent Teacher Conferences are all about

I have parents coming into my classroom today asking how their child is doing in my class. They only have a 95, how can they get a higher grade?Really? This happens over and over again. I wonder why they're here. I don't think it's to make themselves feel better about how great their child is doing in school. I also don't think that they are very worried about the 95 not being a 98. I believe it's to show their child that they are fully invested in their education.Parents who show up to Parent…See More
