On-line discussions in an algebra class.

I’m trying to have students have some meaningful and engaging conversations on some key topics in an algebra class, especially with regards to solving equations or systems of equations. I would like for them to discuss this on an on-line forum environment like edmodo or mybigcampus. Any suggestions with some good starting points for the topics?
