sponsored by PCI Education and an online community, called WeAreTeachers.

The 10 recipients of this grant receive $200 to aide their work with special education students, as well as a flip video camera. Recipients are selected through an online voting... process. Every email address & name counts once. Tell your friends...
Contest ends December 1st.

SO...
If you have a moment, I'd really appreciate you going online and
voting for my project. It would really mean a lot to me to have your
vote and support! Just go to http://www.weareteachers.com/web/602148/1 and follow the directions there. Vote for Duff, Karla- (page 8) it is quick and easy!

Thanks,

Global Learning for all Students: Networking for Knowledge

Description
Motivation is an individual process with all students in my mainstreamed social studies class. I have use pen pals in the past to create this interest. Last year was different. After our pen pals in Sri Lanka were unable to write back because of civil unrest in their country, the students lost personal interest. This year, I will use the web (Twitter) to connect with real people in real time. They will be able to share their lives with those in SE Asia with immediate feedback. Motivation-YES!

How will I use the money:
The money will be used to purchase materials to supplement classroom materials. Students need to understand the culture and geographics of their country. The text book is written at grade level(6-7th). This doesn't meet the needs of my mainstreamed students. Individual texts, audios, and videos are needed. Fiction and non-fiction books at different reading levels will open up the world to my struggling readers. Audio and visual media will reinforce the information. They will be ready to network!
