I just started my own blog and was wondering, is it poor "blogging form" if you edit pieces of your blog after readers have commented...?

Also, are there any other "unspoken" rules of blogging that can be spoken of here, so I'm less likely to commit the faux pas I commonly make in my everyday, offline existence?

Thank in advance. :o)

I've never run across any set rules for blogging - we're human whether we're blogging or in person, mistakes happen. :) If you're just fixing a typo or two, I think it's perfectly acceptable to edit after publishing/comments. If I were going to go back and clarify something or add to a posting, I'd probably add something such as, "Edited on Jan. 10, 2010 to add: blah blah blah..." But again, no rule, just something I'd do.

BTW, if I were to run across "rules" for blogging I'd have to really look at them and question if they were just reflective of one person's opinion, and how they originated.
I've seen tips for blogging, but never "rules." I guess this would be more about blogging etiquette.

I'd definitely not change the thrust of the blog nor a major portion of the content after folks have commented, but I was thinking more along the lines of refinement. I could see adding samples of student work or links that people referred to in the comments- stuff like that.

Just wondering if that's considered, even by a few bloggers, as "bad form."
Not at all, you're your own editor so you have to go in and make changes (esp. typos) etc..

Major changes, say in slant or tone, are best made however with an editor's note as mentioned above. y
Yes, I've seen that often. Thanks for the reminder!

Catch up or recovery?

I've been intrigued by the language of "catch up" which has come from government ministers and even the Children's Commissioner. The idea that lockdown has resulted in lost learning and a widening of the gap can't be disputed but it is the solutions put forward by government which has revealed the reductive nature of the government's attitude to learning and to young people. To reduce education and learning to an accumulation of facts devoid from any contextual influence is just simply naive.…See More
