Now that Apple has unveiled their latest venture, I was wondering what impact might the iPad have in education.
W/ more schools districts pushing for 1 : 1 but lack of funding, I think the more likely scenario are students using touch devices as an iPod Touch or iPad. I really think that a cart full of iPod Touches or iPads is a more affordable/interactive solution for districts.
The possibilites are endless w/ new apps designed specifically for the iPad such as iBooks (or Books) or iWorks (iPad addition). Imagine a district where students carry there books w/ them in electronic format w/ the ability to buy/rent download them w/ a tap of a finger.
Finally, I really see how this device can help students w/ special needs. It's a learning device right at the palm of each users hand.
Of course, all of this is just speculation until the consumers can get these in their hands and actual apply them into their teaching practices.
