This is my first ISTE, and I am also attending alone, which makes me kinda nervous! I've joined the ISTE Ning and started twittering, but I'm always interested in expanding my PLN even more.

If you see an old guy walking around the convention center in a Hawaiian shirt and a confused look on his face, step up and say hello to me. I will have an additional name-tag you may recognize.

I am also an ISTE Newbie. As a Glogster Ambassador, Glogster Edu paid my conference registration. I am looking forward to learning and working with Glogster staff. I am attending alone, so I would love to meet others and learn from my PLN too.

I'm looking forward to meeting members of my PLN and adding more.  Are there any meet-ups planned?

@Elana- How amazing that you work for Edutopia. Many thanks to all the inspiration and spot lights Edutopia gives to education.

I plan on heading to the Edutopia event after I take down some pins at Lucky Strike at the YEN meet up. What is the best place to get my 'phase 2' for the event and do I need a print out of my registration?

It's hard to know what I want to take away from ISTE 2011. But I'm hoping to run into a new idea or way of thinking about technology.

@Suzie - Nice! We'll make sure to have one Edutopia staff member attending. Sounds exciting!

PS: I forgot to mention to this group that there's a fun Karaoke event happening on Tuesday (6/28). It'll be a very fun event and not only is it open to everyone and free to attend (Note: You must register to attend), the first 100 people to attend get a free drink and goodies: http://edtechkaraoke-iste2011.eventbrite.com/. Disclosure: I work for Edutopia and Edutopia is a sponsor of this event. Hope to see some of you there!

"Interesting Tom. I agree. Computers, smart phones, tablets, notebooks, and the like should be used the same way that we used pens, paper, rulers, protractors,  encyclopedias, and dictionaries. Kids are growing up knowing technology so we should…"

Getting the same technology for students in specialized classrooms as the gen. ed. classrooms

Hello everyone! I have been in Special Education for more than 34 years.I am currently a retiree who has returned to the classroom and am teaching a high school Autism class. In all my time I have seen many things change, both as a teacher and as an administrator. But the one thing that hasn't changed is equal access to technology and other materials that are given to the general education classrooms. When it comes to deciding what to spend the budget on, we may start out with a "wishlist" but…See More

Equity between schools in the same district

An interesting theme came up while I was interviewing a principal friend of mine. She was discussing how she has begun to feel defeated because  of the new requirement our state has that all students will take the state assessments on line. She was saying that this will simply murder their school performance. Her student population is close to being 100% poverty, there is no parental support at all at home, and they only get computer time in school  a couple times a week due to too few…See More
