 Google Slide Rubric for Linear Systems

One of the newer movements in education is the use of interactive notebooks. Students do foldables, notes, pictures, diagrams, and homework and place them into an actual paper notebook or binder.  Using Google Slides as the interactive notebook has essentially the same purpose, but it adds another level of engagement.  Teachers can utilize Google Slides to create interactive data notebooks. The students can store these notes in their personal Google Drive for access at any point in their education. Teachers can use these notes as a portfolio of evidence of understanding.  Another benefit to the English Learner is that he/she can write the slides in his/her native language and  the teacher can grade it with the "Instant Translator" add-on function. With that said, a small modification that is easily completed  might need to be made for the English Learner, slow learner, and special education student. The teacher may need to create a template and share it through Google Drive. The teacher can have one of the three standard components completed or fill in the blank sections as well. With that said, it is important to also address the gifted students and those who need enrichment. I would ask those students to seek out and embed videos into their notes. Educators can use these notes daily or have students complete them at the end of each section thus creating a study guide for the test and semester exam. A challenge for the student could be if they are not familiar with Google Slides or if there are move-ins after you have taught how to use Google Slides. I think that pairing students up or simply pulling them for a 1:1 session on work day would also be helpful. Regardless of the students in your classroom, allowing them to personalize their learning takes their engagement and ownership in their learning to higher level thanks to Google Slides.

Wrapping up another year
