I teach middle school, special ed life skills with a very wide range of abilities from PreK to 7th. I would like to begin a PBL school-run business to help them learn money management, banking, collaboration, etc.  Has anyone done something like this with this population.  Any suggestions?

I created an activity in which Italian language college students have to collaboratively edit a wiki/website with references and links to online material about the Italian society and culture. My students will work by their own, as I will nog give them anything more than some tips during the process of discovery and edition. I am new at the concept of PBL, and I have a question: can this activity be framed as PBL? I guess so as for students this is an extended process of inquiry and discover in response to a challenge. Below there is a description of my wiki activity, if you want to know more, any commentary will be welcome!

The main goal of this activity is to make students not to edit wiki entries on the Wikipedia model but to create a space where an interested user can find references and links to online authentic material. L'Italia dal vivo is a Google Sites wiki/website, complemented by a wiki (Wiki dal vivo) where students, in groups of 3 or 4, post and edit multimedia material inherent to their group’s topic. In this last wiki there is a Google Group forum embedded where students discuss about the material to include in the final draft of their group’s topic web page and other topics related to the Italian world. During the all 12 weeks that the activity lasts, students also post interesting material on the Italian society and culture on Twitter using the hashtag #itavivo. Through the all process, students discover information and learn about the Italian society from authentic online material, are constantly exposed to the Italian language, and consistently practice it.

Has anyone ever tried Challenge-Based Learning http://www.challengebasedlearning.org/ in their class?  I really want to try something with my high school math students in the fall, but am having a tough time organizing my thoughts.

I am looking for great ideas or suggestions on doing inquiry-based projects with ELL students in Korea. Our school is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It would also be great to collaborate with ELLs (and their teachers) in schools in the US and other countries.  Thank you and Xin Chao!

Not only have bie.org commissioned the video I recently posted but they also have a whole site devoted to PBL. I think their toolkit would help you immensely in writing the driving question, structuring the unit etc. They also have a book on Elementary and Middle school PBL but I haven't seen either, so I can only recommend the website.

I'm taking a teaching with technology course and we have to create a project based learning assignment. I've been trying to come up with some ideas for it. I was thinking about something along the lines of a geometry walk. Students could go to different locations around a community or school and create simple geometry questions for 6 locations. Is this on the right track? Other ideas would be appreciated! Thank you!
