Here are a couple of sample video projects I've worked on with students.  Just thought I'd share and see if I can view some of your student's projects.Student projects…Continue

I teach 7/8 TV broadcasting, and we film a daily announcements show. I'm going to be talking about the program at ISTE this year at one of their unplugged sessions. I've put something up on my blog about our program, but any suggestions for the program or suggestions for the presentation would be greatly appreciated! http://bit.ly/m6BxT3

I have come to realize that if I want to continue teaching (16 year vet), then an extreme classroom make-over is necessary. The old - lecture > guided practice > home practice > assess – model does not connect with today’s students. Students making curriculum based video projects seems like one attractive alternative. I plan to use TeacherTube or SchoolTube as the venue where kids can post and share their work. Does anyone have some info about which is better?

I teach video editing with my 8th graders. We tape the school's daily announcements as a news broadcast and air it every day at a specific time. They do a nice job with it. We, too, do digital storytelling and I've had some fantastic projects come out of this. Other things we do include enhanced poetry podcasts, music videos, commercials, and Public Service Announcements. But I'm always open for more ideas!

Brent,

I've had students use and like Video Spin. It worked well and was easy to use. another option might be to use an online service like jaycut.com. If you have more questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Susan,

Have you thought about starting a posterous.com blog and posting the videos? You can password protect the blog so only your students' parents can view it. We did that at my school and the parents were thrilled.

Next year I'm starting an after-school science film club with hopes of bringing it in to the classroom...eventually. I'm excited to share and gain ideas in this group.

I just started using video projects in the classroom. We are teaching Getting Along and the students are creating a video to along with it. I am also using video to help students learn phonics skills. The older children, who need help with phonics, are creating a phonics video for the younger grades to teach them phonics skills. It is working really well because the older children really need to think about what they are doing.

HI! I think having a camera in class can be fun a experiment . I tried it several times in class and worked fine. There are still many ideas I have not tried yet.
