Posted on June 28, 2011 at 3:45pm 2 Comments

Back in September, five of my teachers from different content areas attended a two-day Project Based Learning workshop hosted by the Buck Institute. Then in October, I asked them to share what they learned with a group of about 35 of their colleagues. We spent an entire day discussing their experiences and they walked us through the PBL process. …

Posted on March 16, 2011 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

Last year I read Outliers: the Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell and had the opportunity to share this book with administrators from my district during our summer retreat. An outlier can be defined as an individual who not only have exceptional talent, but is provided and…

"Apply directly to the Forehead!" My eTech Ohio Conference 2011 Reflections

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 9:11pm 3 Comments

I had the opportunity to attend the eTech Ohio Conference (#oetch11) on Monday, January 31, 2011. It’s a three day event, but with budget and time constraints, I was only able to attend one day. I am excited to attend each year, hoping to take away at least one new idea I can share with my staff. This year, I heard two presentations that were inspiring, encouraging, and practical. Two things… Continue

Daycare or Preschool: Which Is Better for Your Child

If you are trying to decide which one you should choose for your child, first look at your child's abilities. Would they be better suited for a preschool environment where they can explore and learn, or would they do better in a less structured environment like a daycare? Visit a few of each and see just what kind of activities they include. This may be the one best way to determine which one is right for your child.Read more here:…See More

Use these two words and become a better student

Words are powerful. And you do not only know that since your last exam. A single word can change everything: it can make you the victor, save relationships, calm you down or pull you into the abyss.Finding the right words is an art that not everyone masters. Some use their words inflationary and put one empty phrase to the next. Others put every word on the gold scale and interpret everything possible into what is said. But your choice of words not only affects how other people perceive you. Your…See More

Online Education: Can It Really Replace Learning in Classrooms?

In the modern world education is a part of everyone's life. Even if someone did not graduate from college or finish school, they still learn new skills or just something they are interested in. That can likewise be called education, or, even a more appropriate term is self-education. This concept is closely related to…See More
