Left the Schools to Reach More Students Who Are Falling Thru the Cracks

I'm a frustrated and angry teacher who is out of the schools now and focusing on helping those kids who are falling through the cracks of reading instruction, all the way up through high school, college (study skills too!), and adults who cannot read but know they need to learn.

This has been my dream for a long time, and now I'm out on a limb and trying it.

Wish me luck, or pray for me, or send good karma my way...this is hard and risky! But---I had to do something!

I will be launching my site shortly--it's still in Beta. In case you don't get back to me, though, the URL is http://yourchildwillread.com . It is NOT complete and needs more work, including adding other ages who need help, and tons more info that I have ready to go.

I'll be providing free advice, forum help, instructive videos for parents, and so much more.

I hope to see all you of there, and also hope that you will send your parents of readers who don't get services (OR even those who do but still are not thriving!) to me, and I promise that I will give guidance, advice and hope. If you're really nice, you'll also direct your adult folks who you suspect can't read.

I'm going to make it video-heavy, along with the text, for those people, so they can hear what they can't yet read.

I'm not sure our educational system can be fixed. So many teachers won't even consider changing, much less encouraging interaction. It's the 21st Century. We older teachers are dinosaurs if we don't adapt! Personally, I fell in love with the internet when I first encountered it in 1994!

I'm not as simplistic as I sound--but I'm trying to be clear about my plans.

If you'd like to be notified when the site launches--please contact me and I'll include you in my intro letter!

I really hope to see a lot of youat my site and participating in the forums, helping me to advise people in reading trouble! You are so much more than welcome. It could be your "Pay It Forward" moment every few days!

In all sincerity,

Paula Lee Bright

P.S. There will be tons of free content on my site. Later, I'll charge for some--but will always want to help those in low-income families, not just the ones with money. So----there will be a sliding scale. Also available will be brief live-time meetings with me--for specific skills and strategies.

It's going to be -- terrific, I think!

Encourage parents of those struggling to email me or give me a call. They can find those details at the site. I have no desire to replace their primary teacher. I am simply here to give that extra time that struggling readers need, and that isn't available so much anymore due to budget cuts.
