Do your leaders drive performance or drive administration?

For so long I have watched leaders in schools focus their energy and time on administrative duties. I put myself at the top of this list. Faculty Heads for example, spend so much time in curriculum admin and documentation, file arranging, budgeting and other compliance tasks. Keep objective setting simple.....please!!

In education, be it public or private, we're fantastic at creating mission statements, producing long and short range strategic plans and not to mention annual action plans. Within these there are a multitude of objectives, goals, strategies, actions and targets. And of course in Victoria Australia there are also the standards for professional practice for full registration which has 8 standards and 32 characteristics of effective teaching listed under these.As a leader, how on earth do you…See More

Why did your school bother with a strategic plan?

So here's the question for principals and leaders in schools.If you randomly selected a member of your staff and asked them to name one objective or goal from your school's strategic or annual action plan off the top of their head, how confident are you that they could?
