Richard Nelson replied to David Petrick's discussion How has technology in your classroom impact student learning and achievement?
"Hi Dennis, I agree. It is seen that technology can enhance learning, but there is little measurable evidence. I am collecting research at the moment for my studies and there are a lot of case studies and best practice guidance, but little on…"

Consumption devices versus creative devices – a review of the Lenovo Thinkpad X220t

I have always been an advocate of ‘learn anywhere’ principle and breaking down barriers for teachers. Tablet devices such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab have offered potentional to take teaching away from the desktop and freed learners to explore different context. However, as …See More

If it is not cross platform then I am not Interested!

In my current role I come across a large number of innovative resources that keen sales people or enthusiastic users try to get me to adopt. Now, I admit I do get a little excited about new technology and sometimes get blinded by the bling of something new. However, if it only runs on the iPad or it is a .exe file, then I am not interested.Image from Flickr By …See More

Launch day of our new online module for teacher education

Wednesday evening saw the BIG LAUNCH NIGHT of our online teacher education module. Over 60 students eagerly waited in the lecture theatre for the presentation of the module that would occupy their lives for the next seven weeks. The feedback was very positive; they found the navigation straightforward and were able to get to grips with the tasks easily. Many of their anxieties of participating in an online course were dissipated as soon as they had a play. Before we gave the students a chance to…See More

Mural.ly the future of collaboration and presentation?

Just come across the online tool Mural.ly. The tool allows you visually store collections of information. These can be web pages, images, pdf files and more. It seems to be like Wallwisher with an adrenaline rush.I really like tools that offer visual ways to show collections of data. I find these much more effective that list…See More

Managing Challenging Behaviour: Podcast interview with Nancy Rappaport

Daycare or Preschool: Which Is Better for Your Child

If you are trying to decide which one you should choose for your child, first look at your child's abilities. Would they be better suited for a preschool environment where they can explore and learn, or would they do better in a less structured environment like a daycare? Visit a few of each and see just what kind of activities they include. This may be the one best way to determine which one is right for your child.Read more here:…See More

Use these two words and become a better student

Words are powerful. And you do not only know that since your last exam. A single word can change everything: it can make you the victor, save relationships, calm you down or pull you into the abyss.Finding the right words is an art that not everyone masters. Some use their words inflationary and put one empty phrase to the next. Others put every word on the gold scale and interpret everything possible into what is said. But your choice of words not only affects how other people perceive you. Your…See More

That can likewise be called education, or, even a more appropriate term is self-education. This concept is closely related to…See More
