I pulled up the note on my iPod the other day, the one that I wrote last December to chart all my New Year's Resolutions. I'm doing pretty well. I've been financially responsible. I'm 6 lbs from my Jan 1 '11 goal weight. I've sent birthday cards and gift cards to every family member so far this year. But then there's the one about the reading...I was supposed to read 4 professional books. I haven't read one. And here it is September. So please help me find some sense of accomplishment in my…See More

"Thanks! @teachpaperless is a great resource, been following him for a long time! My students have been turning things in on Google docs occasionally, but I teach Spanish and don't believe homework is terribly beneficial in that subject, so we…"
"I'm not sure which you should pick, but whichever you do mention in your proposal the difficulty of making the choice. Also, http://teachpaperless.blogspot.com/ is an outstanding resource for going paperless."
I've been wanting to really go paperless for a while but I and my students and my school just don't have the technology for it. One of my summer projects is to apply for a grant to take my class paperless next year with an interactive whiteboard and ipads. My first application is the Pepsi refresh project at the $5k level (I teach part-time, advanced electives, so I only have about 20 students so that's enough). They ask you to choose environment or education. The proposal is both. Which…See More

Hi Sara! Yes, great point. And we are all new at these huge changes but the point is to take risks and experiment new options, new ways to do the things we were doing as granted, new technologies. But how??? Trying, doing, commiting mistakes and learning with them.

That's weird to think about right now, when all I do is see them.It has me wondering; did I serve them as best I could? Did I impart all the wisdom I could into their little brains? Did I ignite a spark, or reaffirm a defeatist attitude?I have to be honest, there are some kids I won't miss. You know the kids I'm talking…See More
