Global Projects for Students with Disabilities: Building Understanding Through Real World Experience at Blackboard Collaborate

November 14, 2012 from 6pm to 7pm
How can students with disabilities benefit from emerging technologies and participation in global projects? This session will examine the universal design for learning model as a pedagogical framework for teaching students with disabilities. We will investigate how Web 2.0 technologies, virtual learning networks, and assistive technology such as iPads can aid in differentiating instruction for all students. Global projects can create situations where abstract concepts can become concrete,…See More

While media are endless, ways in which teachers can use them often are not. My aim is to shed some light on the how global projects can be used across content areas to engage students in authentic and meaningful learning experiences.

An additional component of global classrooms that will need addressed is the resistance of teachers to rise…

Sasha,

I enjoyed  the video you posted about Multicultural Education.  It falls in line with our the class we are taking concurrently with Dr. Fennimore.  At CCAC, I am constantly writing about diversity of students and the issues related to it.  We also have more and more international students, which increases our diversity as a community college.

Innovation in Education is Overrated

As a society, we place a premium on innovators and entrepreneurs. They are admired, or for some revered in Business, Politics, and even Education. The reason for that bias is that innovators and entrepreneurs are scarce commodities. Most people are employees and not entrepreneurs. There is nothing wrong with that. Most people follow trends; they don’t start them. There is nothing wrong with that. Few people lead while most people follow. Again, there is nothing wrong with that. On the surface…See More
