The personal learning network for educators
But what exactly are aspirations? They are projections into the future for a better life and for success. Aspirations may be individual or shared. They occupy the space of conscious intentions – the important space between dreams for an idealized future and enterprise which is about taking action and making concrete plans. Aspirations are a potent force for change not only in…

AMA (American Medical Association) referencing is a kind of system that enables academic writers to demonstrate where another author’s work has added to or supported a thesis or hypothesis inside their work. The AMA referencing style was planned by the American Medical Association particularly for use in their publications. The style is currently…

You have a great lesson planned for today, and the internet is down. Your supervisor is lurking in the doorway, you can just smell the observation coming. What do you do?
You teach your kids how to create hyperlinks with just PowerPoint or Google Slides!
Here’s my plan.
Begin the lesson with having the students create the first slide, a “Table of Contents” sort of slide. Mine looks like this.…

“Happy New Year” wishes normally come for everyone around the beginning of January every year. Only if you are a teacher or a student do you appreciate this wish twice a year – early January and early September, when schools start, at least in Greece! And, if you are a teacher, new years always begin in September and last until the end of August, every time! That is when you make sure you have re-arranged your home desk, bookcase and…

I recently earned my Google Level 2 Certification, and it felt great, but I'm just as proud earning my Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Badge for this year too. I like to say that I'm bilingual: I speak Google and Office. Both prove I met certain requirements, but they proved it in different ways.
You can earn your Google Certification anytime you want, just pay the $25 and…

Most of us have heard about blending learning. Many even use it in their teaching practice. Still, some confuse blending learning with other concepts such as technology-rich classrooms or online classrooms.
To distinguish these concepts, I’ll give the definition of blending learning. Blending learning – is a mix of face-to-face teaching with online learning, thus students conduct part of their learning in school and the other part online.
Now it’s time to tell you about…

Essay about How Critical Can Pediatric Emergencies Get?
Pediatric emergencies are related to health emergencies suffered by children. Like health emergencies faced by adults, even children are prone to suffering sudden attacks and arrests that can cause dramatic mental and physical trauma in them. Not many people believe that children as young as 4 to 5 years can face cardiac attests or, depression…

How does it feel to have someone talk bad about you? There are two things I dislike a gossip and snakes. In my opinion, these two are related in some way or the other. A snake hides it self into spaces and can…

So, I took the Google Certified Level 2 Exam last year and failed it by 4 points. That stung.
I was embarrassed, I pouted, and felt sorry for myself. (Yes, my life is a living hell.)
But after a few hours, I got over myself and realized that this is a real learning experience. I thought about what failing feels like to my students. Do they feel the way I do when they fail?
The difference between their tests and mine was…

Anybody who's ever undertaken a creative project and can'ts for help in it, in any capacity will know what it's like to hit a wall - not physically hit a wall, there's not much logic in that and you're likely to break a hand! The metaphorical creative wall also known as a block or a rut.
The place you get to just after you've settled yourself into a false…

I have long been a guest blogger for Edutopia, which has been both a challenge and an honor. I have always found it challenging to be provocative in promoting change in education in a blog post, while remaining positive in tone. That overriding positive tone however is one constant in Edutopia posts that engenders loyalty, trust and a reliance from about a million followers who want to know more about education. To have my work read and appreciated by that vast audience is…

I recently read yet another article that questioned the effect of using technology in education. I believe it stated that there are 3.6 million educators using edtech as the basis for the post. The post itself was well done, but throughout my reading I was troubled by what defined an edtech-using educator. How is it determined that an educator is truly an edtech user?
I have been in meetings where educators had to fill out questionnaires…

My 27-year-old son is depressed and in the habit of gambling. His manual-labor job seems to get him down and he feels worthless as in our family both parents are graduates, as is his younger sister – he feels the only way out of his "inadequacy" is going to the bookies so that "one day" he will win enough so as…
