Ideas, Ideas, Ideas Email Signature

Take a look at your outgoing email.  Most people have an automatic signature that places your name and basic contact information at the end of every email.  Some people get creative and add a motivational quote.  This space is actually very valuable real estate.  This space is an opportunity to let everyone you email know about something important.  Think of your signature space as a place to showcase who you are, what you are doing, and how others can join in.  Here are five ways to…

Potential is an opportunity not a guarantee.

As a parent we want our children to live up to their fullest potential.  We do everything in our power to guide their lives and mold their events to allow our children to grow and develop into amazing adults. If they fall short we are there to support them and get them back on track. Decisions

Within one day I make many decisions.  My decisions are at many different levels.  They range from what am I going to wear today, to what is the best instructional practice for a particular student.  Any way you look at it, “It’s Up 2 Me” to come up with a final decision.  As a good leader should, many decisions are made in collaboration with others.  Each of those decisions that are made with others is at different levels.  I must quickly determine what level of decision-making I will…

Substitutes

Today my goal was to visit with each substitute in my building and improve the relationship with each one.  Many times when substitutes come into the building they are ignored.  The only time they are focused on is when they are unable to control the class.  The only expectation of a sub is to keep the kids quiet and engaged long enough so the end of the day bell can ring.  Often, when a sub comes  into the building they do not have anywhere to hang their coat or… Continue

Catch up or recovery?

I've been intrigued by the language of "catch up" which has come from government ministers and even the Children's Commissioner. The idea that lockdown has resulted in lost learning and a widening of the gap can't be disputed but it is the solutions put forward by government which has revealed the reductive nature of the government's attitude to learning and to young people. To reduce education and learning to an accumulation of facts devoid from any contextual influence is just simply naive.…See More
