Britain 2023! Educating for their futures not our past.

Given that the Reception children starting at our school in September 2010 will be looking for jobs in the summer of 2023 or around that time depending on the course of their lives beyond 16, what will they need to gain a foothold in the workplace and be successful?

Whilst surfing for useful ICT technology for use in school, I came across something called EducationEye which is produced by Futurelab.

BECTA's loss is not just a technological one.

I understand that the Government has inherited a huge budget deficit and that savings have to be made but I really feel that the unfair elimination of BECTA will have a huge impact upon the life chances of our children and their ability to support and develop the economy of this country in what will be a very competitive and technology dependent future.

Catch up or recovery?

I've been intrigued by the language of "catch up" which has come from government ministers and even the Children's Commissioner. The idea that lockdown has resulted in lost learning and a widening of the gap can't be disputed but it is the solutions put forward by government which has revealed the reductive nature of the government's attitude to learning and to young people.
