To learn adding fractions with different denominators , kids can go to http://www.fractionsworksheets.ca There are many links to the pages containing lessons and worksheets on adding fractions with different denominators.
The key is to know the greatest common factor of two or more numbers and equivalent fractions, once kids know these two skills, then they can add any type of fractions easily. Most of the kids in grade seven encounter with adding fractions with unlike denominators. Till then they must have understood the basic fractional concepts such as adding fractions with like denominators, equivalent fractions, reducing fractions into lowest terms and last but not least the least common multiple (lcm) and greatest common factor (gcf).
