The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

One of the main points we are learning about in EDCI397 is using and maintaining a personal learning network. We are encouraged to use various social media outlets such as Twitter, Pinterest, and Youtube while also searching for educational blogs on Wordpress and such. The idea is to connect with as many educational professionals as we can and thus expand our knowledge of the field using the different advances in technology, all while keeping in mind the different themes we are studying in class.

In the short time that I have been working on my PLN, I have come across some great websites and in the process I have added several websites to my PLN toolbox. Recently, I have signed up for a RSS on Netvibes, and I am working on a blog (although it is proving to be quite difficult). In the future I hope to be able to share with you all some of the networks I will be connected to, but for now this is a work in progress. I also hope to post a blog after each of my 397 classes to not only keep track of what I am learning but also make connections between recurring themes and my PLN. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't excited to get the chance to be connected with other professionals!

Follow me on this journey towards an effective PLN! I look forward to "meeting" all of you!

Do you believe that if you connect yourself with as many educational professionals as possible this will make you a better teacher?

What do you find most difficult about getting your blog up off the ground?

What do you hope to gain from being connected to other professionals?
