How Foreign Students Study in Universities in the US?

US colleges are accepting more foreign students than ever before, according to the Institute of International Education. According to this report, approximately one million foreign students gained education in the US during 2014-2015, which is an increase of 10% when compared to the previous year.

The number of foreign students in the US remains low in comparison to the entire education population, but these numbers are growing at a very rapid pace. In addition, such changes in the educational world result in better understanding of various cultures and behaviors, while making sure that the education of the US students and residents is not at all compromised.

Interestingly, most foreign students study in the largely populated states that are home of the most popular higher education institutions, including New York, California, and Illinois. Most of these students actually pay for the most expensive education in the world – the American education, while others receive funding from their home countries or the respective educational institution.

Why Students Come to the US to Study?

According to Allan Goodman, the IIE president, US experiences an increase in international students in the education because of the enormous number of colleges and universities in it. As a matter of fact, the US has over 4,000 schools at this point, which is a higher number than any other nation in the world. “Other countries can’t accommodate all their students.'' – says Goodman. ''India and China have trouble finding seats for all their qualified students. Capacity matters”.

In addition to this, many countries now have booming economies that allow students to afford education in the US. Such countries include China and India, where even the new middle class decides to take this step. According to Goodman, parents save a large amount of U.S. dollars by sending their kids to get education in the US.

Of course, every student likes the fact that they will have a US degree to show. Many of the prestigious colleges are located exactly in the US, and a degree from these institutions provides great career opportunities for later.

How Foreign Students Study in the US?

Students in the US are now exposed to a variety of different cultures. This creates bigger perspectives for everyone included, which makes the experience of both US students and foreign students enriched.

Of course, the inclusion of foreign students in the American education has created a certain deal of controversy. Many people raised concerns about frauds in admission and validity of applications. In addition to this, many parents think that their children get a reduced chance in graduating or being enrolled in a good school because of the grand number of international students.

Studying in a University is tough everywhere you are, which means that US education is not easy for anyone. In addition to having to adjust to a new culture and location, these students also struggle with the language and different educational approaches of the US institutions. But, while education in the US can be hard for a foreign student, it is extremely beneficial at the same time.
