Essay about How Critical Can Pediatric Emergencies Get?

Pediatric emergencies are related to health emergencies suffered by children. Like health emergencies faced by adults, even children are prone to suffering sudden attacks and arrests that can cause dramatic mental and physical trauma in them. Not many people believe that children as young as 4 to 5 years can face cardiac attests or, depression in their central nervous systems; but reports of the occurrences of such dramatic conditions have been reported from the length and breadth of the world over many decades rather, centuries. There are many reasons that can play behind the occurrence of such tragic situations some of which can be named as certain pre existing / congenital defects, drowning, poisoning, suffocation for any reason whatsoever, development of certain diseases / disorders, exposure to sever shock so on and so forth.

Very unfortunate loss of lives has also been experienced after the occurrence of these emergencies. The problem that has been persisting for a while in the world of medical science is that, these critical problems (like cardiac arrests etc) are usually rare in common children, thus the procedures that need to be applied to cater to the issue has remained a little in the dark. Considering the fact that it is the adults who suffer these conditions more, the interventions so developed have been modeled to cater to this age group only. However, the physical structure and tolerating capacity of children happen to be far weaker making the implementation of the techniques and procedures for adults a complete no-no in the case of the former.

Introduction of Pediatric Advanced Life Support:-

This is one of the most important reasons for the introduction of Pediatric Advanced Life Support or, PALS. Like Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), this is a set of clinical interventions that is administered to children to treat the emergencies they have been exposed to. These interventions are usually implemented by health care professionals who operate in pre hospital environments like paramedics, nurses, etc. Being of a critical importance, the professionals need to possess PALS certification in order to qualify for the task. Possessing this certification establishes the possessor as someone who has mastered the procedure of implementing the basic requirements in the form determining what course of action to follow, usage of important devices, monitoring the health condition, administering relevant drugs and most importantly, making sure that the concerned child reaches the hospital without suffering any irreversible damages.

How and Where to Attain Certification?

The certificates can be attained usually after attending courses that train concerned professionals in everything that is included in pediatric advanced life support. At present, one can avail these courses through a number of providers of PALS class who operate both online and offline. It is crucial for the enthusiasts to locate the right providers in terms of quality and reputation in order to receive authentic certificates with exposure to perfect training. A little internet search can lead to good providers who can be approached at reasonable fees.
