The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

Recently Brainpop invited educators to share their favorite apps for all mobile devices. They are sponsoring the Mobile Device Sandbox at the Mobile Learning Experience this week in Arizona and will load recommended apps on these devices for conferences attendees to "play with" at the sandbox.

I posted a blog with a copy of the apps I shared and a link to see all the other apps educators shared as well. There were many of my favorites and a few "new-to-me" apps as well. Read it here.

For those of you attending the Mobile Learning Experience this week...Have Fun! But be sure to share when you get back. Those of us holding down the fort want to the best things you learned. I'll be following the Mobile 2011 blog updates each day so maybe I'll read a submission from one of you!

I have been using Office Connect for MS Office documents, but I have not tried it with a document as large as a dissertation! I think you would enjoy an iPad...I use it for almost everything now. Anyway, here is the beginning of the blog. I think you will understand the comment about large amounts of text...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Apple bluetooth keyboard. I highly recommend this keyboard to any iPad user. I have successfully been using this keyboard with the iPad 1 and 2 and have not encountered any problems so far. It has worked with every app and website. This was a very well spent $69!

It is light but still has a "good feel." When I have something to type that is more than one or two paragraphs, I whip out my keyboard, turn it on and type away. It is that easy!

Anyone that has been struggling to create content that requires larger amounts of text will not regret this purchase!

Thanks for sharing.  I've been resisting the iPad for quite a while, but my will power decreases with every favorable post I encounter.  I read your  iPad teacher blog, but I had trouble reading your latest post for some reason.  (It was cut off at the top.)  I'm curious about the app you found that allows you to handle large amount of text.  I'm starting work on my dissertation, and if I can use an iPad rather than carting around my laptop, that just might push me over the edge for an iPad purchase!

Catch up or recovery?

I've been intrigued by the language of "catch up" which has come from government ministers and even the Children's Commissioner. The idea that lockdown has resulted in lost learning and a widening of the gap can't be disputed but it is the solutions put forward by government which has revealed the reductive nature of the government's attitude to learning and to young people. To reduce education and learning to an accumulation of facts devoid from any contextual influence is just simply naive.…See More
