Student Guide to Making the Most of Your College Years

College is the bridge between the turbulent teenage years and young adulthood. For most of incoming college students, so many transitions are happening - leaving home and parents behind, having responsibilities like rent, work and school and also, leaving behind childhood friends and making new ones. College is the most unforgettable experience for most people, and the way to making it memorable is to maximizing on the four years you spend in college.

By following these guide steps, you are sure to make your college experience the best you can make it to be:

Attend your classes and take part in them - Your classes feed your brain and help you grow intellectually. In college, students are not just spoonfed information, but are being trained to think critically, research, write and discuss complex topics. By attending and participating in class, you are growing yourself intellectually.

Join different organizations and try out new activities - These are ways to emotionally grow. By expanding your social circles, you are learning how to meet new people and work with different kinds of personalities - a skill very useful in life. By trying out new things, you are also increasing your self-confidence and skills.

Learn time-management - Part of being an adult is to learn how to balance - between school, social activities and other responsibilities. Time management is key - allotting enough time for everything important and at the same time, leaving enough time for yourself and for leisure.

Learn how to manage money - College students are having to manage money for the first time, making sure there's money for school and school-related purchases, living expenses and leisure. This is also the time to learn how to be a smart consumer - instead of buying new textbooks, buying used ones will allow you to save some money. If you do not learn how to manage money, you will end up worrying about finances or not have money to enjoy your life as well.

Watch out for yourself - It is important that you always keep yourself safe and healthy so you can attend classes, take part in social activities and still work.

In short, take college as a way to grow and expand as an individual, and also enjoy life as a young adult. This is how you can make college an unforgettable experience. Make friends as you go along each day in your college and make the most of every opportunity as they present themselves on your way.
