The personal learning network for educators
It does not matter where you come to the first day of study: a small private school, or a huge university - meeting new people can be a real challenge for you. If you want to make friends with fellow students, need to remember that they are all just as nervous and scared as you are, so you need to integrate into society as soon as possible, as long as the class is not crashed on the closed group.
Spend more time in company of other people. If you wish to make friends with someone, you have to start to communicate more. When you are studying at school or university, try to sit with a stranger. There is no need to join the liveliest and popular companies - just try to sit where there is already a few people sitting.
Join a club or any other organization, where there are people with the same interests as you. You may not have a lot of common interests, and often very strong friendship tied exactly people who have little in common. If you like something specific, make a research and find a suitable place. There you can meet lots of new people.
Join a sports team. Very often people mistakenly believe that in order to make friends with people in the team, you need to play very well, but not all sports require strong competitive spirit. If you like a particular sport and you are ready to support your teammates, try to join any team, where your level of play will not cause discomfort and dissatisfaction.
Be engaged in volunteering. Volunteering - a great way to meet people of different ages. Working together, you're getting closer. In addition, you will meet with those who are just like you, trying to change things for the better.
Sign up for extracurricular activities. Electives (especially on the basis of the laboratory) are a wonderful way to make friends. If you are interested in music, join a group or choir or music producer course. If you love art, sign up for art history.
