The personal learning network for educators

I believe an open and flexible mindset is essential in education.  It is critical to receiving and embracing new ideas.  All too often, fixed mindset hinders growth for self and others.  How do you inspire others to have a growth mindset for learning?

One way is by modeling this with students and teachers. Statements like, "What are some ways that we can we fix or solve this problem?" model an open and flexible mindset instead of only one answer or one authority. Presenting many different viewpoints on an open-ended topic like, "Should we be going to mars?" can inspire a growth mindset for learning.

Sandra -- thank you for your comment. I have enjoyed reading your posts as well. I know that there are so many of us out there who are passionate and willing to do what it takes to create new, innovative and equitable systems for public education. The young people of this nation and democracy as a whole is counting on us! Good to find like minded professionals such as you and I.
