The personal learning network for educators
One of the best ways I've found to communicate with my students has been to create a class web page on wikispaces.com. It is www.worldhistory706.wikispaces.com. I use it to post my daily classroom agenda, link to the online textbook, troubleshoot why students can't access the online textbook, upload or link to all assignments and rubrics, handouts, etc. Anything we do in the class can be found on the website. There are videos that students can watch to enhance their knowledge of topics, or of themselves completing a class project or activity. I have links to quizzes that I've created or found online. I'm able to track visitation, and have found that at least 25% of my students or parents access it daily. That number goes way up on the day before a quiz or test:) If you don't already have a way to communicate with your students via the web, this is an easy way to start.
