I am currently integrating a technology tool into our online courses at Lexington Theological Seminary called MegaMeeting, which allows the faculty member and students to meet virtually online in a synchronous environment which allows the students to talk to each other and with the faculty member to discuss readings, projects, etc. I am looking for a term to call this type of learning, it's not hybrid cause the students don't come to campus... Any innovative slogans i could use to call this type of learning..?

@langwitches showed me Flipboard on her iPad (I believe that was the app) last week and it looked great, but I don't know if she was using in the classroom. You might ask. :)

I've been researching ways to integrate the iPad into the classroom, i believe there is a lot of potential with the app Flipboard. Please post what you have read or seen within your educational setting.

Hello Web 2.0/Emerging Tech. Team.. After finally receiving my iPad the other day I started to think just how these unique devices could be integrated into the education field. I recently read online that Seton Hall University will be issuing iPads to all incoming freshmen and George Fox University will give their incoming freshmen the option of an iPad or Macbook. Has anyone heard or read just in fact how they plan on integrating the iPad into the curriculum...?

Hello Ben Wyatt --Thanks for your reply. I am researching on the theme "How Social Networking Services Benifit People's Informal Learning". I have got something really interesting. As we know, SNS can visualize people's relationships with others, and it can also help people to create, sustain, and manage their relationships. Now that an important concept learning relationships comes to my view. So I think SNS can help people in their social learning. And we can also use IT to manage our learning relationships.

I everyone...I do not believe technology should be used just because it is "cool". Here is a link that may help you. The Technology Integration Matrix My kindergarten children loved emailing using ePals to learn about weather from children all over the world. It is important to use a safe site like this and be sure that social networking enhances a lesson or unit. I try out all Web 2.0 tools and software before incorporating it with my students. Advertisements may sound wonderful but the only way to know it's advantages is to try it out for yourself. Technology is not about the "glitz' factor. It must be well thought out and planned. The class I am taking at Boise State Graduate School has us blog about this particular topic throughout our learning experience. Feel free to check it out some time at...My Educational Technology Journey. Comments are welcome on my page here or at my site.

Hello Gaoyifei - well i believe when you mention [sns] you are talking about social network service. If i mis-understood you, i am sorry, but if not I'll continue on. I believe, other web 2.0 members feel free to provide your input as well, social media is one avenue to connect a number of different individuals, in different locations around the world to a common or uniform concept. For instance, our Web 2.0 group has a number of individuals from various background and locations, but we are all interested in one common theme, "web 2.0" and how to integrate these tools into education or your everyday tasks. Prior to social networking, this was a hard task to complete or develop, because unless we all attended the same conference on web 2.0, it would be difficult to create a group of lifelong learners interested in web 2.0. Social networking allows us to create those relationships, share concepts, brainstorm, and ultimately helps our students because we can share what web 2.0 tools are working or not working in the education field. Whenever you can bounce ideas off other individuals with various backgrounds, you get a more overall understanding of your original concept, thus ultimately allowing everyone to learn which is a win-win in my book.

More Than a Sport: A Look at Scootering’s Evolution

Too many people do not have a clear idea about what is a Scooter; and much less than there is a sport based on it. Besides, it is a sport that has evolved a lot from its beginning, but if you do not know too much about the sport is hard to see it as more than a kid game. However, this sport is more than just kids and young people making scooter tricks in a square; scootering is a kind of culture and a lifestyle that has more than 20 years growing to become what it is today. For this reason, we…See More
