April 23, 1920 the day when the Turkish Grand National Assembly was founded. The founder of the Turkish Republic, Atatürk dedicated April 23 to children to emphasize that are the future of the ever changing and progressing world.
23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day which is the only children’s festival in the world is celebrated in Turkey as a national day. In 1979, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) recognised this important national day as an international event.
Every year on this date, children from all around the world come together in Turkey to enjoy Children’s Day celebrations and festivities.The Turkish families host these children.They interact and become friends with the Turkish children. These memories of friendly atmosphere will contribute to a future of enhanced brotherhood and peace among nations.
