The personal learning network for educators

When we think of mobile phones in the classroom, it tends to be a forbidden subject as teachers found them as a distraction against education. Parents and teachers would do anything to prevent the use of smartphones in the classroom.

Now we’re seeing a different outlook on the benefits of mobile phones in the classroom. In particular, mobile app development is shedding a light on how mobile phones can actually be the key to educational success. Technology itself is changing the educational landscape as we see new learning management systems upgrade the education industry.

This article will outline some of the best educational apps that mobile phones have to offer and  show exactly how they can be beneficial for students and teachers.

Google Classroom

One of the fundamentals that’s found in any educational institution is submitting homework and assignments to meet deadlines so teachers are able to mark and grade them in sufficient time. This can sometimes be a long winded process, however. It would be ideal if there was a way to streamline this process.

Google Classroom does just that. It’s essentially a virtual classroom for every student and teacher to use. It enables students to submit their assignments and work, create new classes, provide feedback and even more.

Many students can only dream of receiving the education that’s provided by some of the top educational institutions around the world. If only you could gain that same education without having to get the grades to get in in the first place.

THankfully, if you have edX installed on your mobile phone, you can do just that. It brings all the courses available that are taught in institutions such as Harvard and MIT right to your fingertips. They include resources such as videos and quizzes that can make your education extremely engaging.

Learning new languages isn’t an easy task, and it requires plenty of patience and concentration. If the learning techniques aren’t adaptive to the individual it can be easy to lose interest. However, Duolingo is the revolutionary language learning app that makes learning a new language a complete piece of cake.

With languages ranging from Spanish to Italian, there are different kinds of engaging learning experiences that can arise from the app including game and skills. There are also daily targets and XP’s that you can earn that can help motivate you to learn quickly.

Final thoughts

Once considered a taboo, the educational industry is now beginning to see the benefits that mobile apps can bring to the table. Many well-known institutions are beginning to integrate the applications into their learning and organise their classrooms seamlessly.
